World's Finest Steve Rude Bookends

So the new DCDirect pics are up and they've got a set of Steve Rude inspired World's Finest Superman/Batman bookends:

In my opinion, they don't look so hot in that picture. I like Rude's work and like the idea of this piece, but the picture doesn't make it look like the execution lives up to the idea.

IT would be nice to see the actual piece, rather than the concept art...

Hopefully it looks better once we see real pics

Yep, plus we all know Superman would simply shove the books on top of Batman.

Oops, look out, here comes bat_collector!

Not if he was using his bat-super-book-shover that's in his utility belt.

Before you criticize someone, you should walk a mile in their shoes. That way, when you criticize them, you're a mile away and you have their shoes.

Very un-heroic poses. They look like a child trying to keep their parent out of their room.

If the intent was to show them holding up books, I think a single arm from each would have sufficed.

Maybe its just me...but who the heck is pulling the trigger on this stuff at DC?

Not for me , This is about the 5th book support featuring both characters . Stick with statues instead of book supports !!

Don't like this. Doesn't actually look much like Rude's work from his World's Finest series. I'd prefer Batman's cowl/cape, etc., not be such a light blue, too.

I own all of Steve Rude's published work and have followed his commissions online for years and I must say that I don't see Rude in those sculpts. Big pass on this one.

Keep in mind that the sculpts were not finished in time for this solicitation, so this is a heavily photoshopped image (half of it is the original concept art superimposed over the sculpt). Makes for a bit of an awkward image. Shouldn't be long before final pics of the actual painted prototype are shown.

p.s. For the record, I didn't sculpt the whole thing... I worked on Superman, but Batman was sculpted by Rudy Garcia.
