***'Prometheus' (Now contains spoilers)***
Interesting reports that Charlize Theron could be joining the lineup which includes Michael Fassbender and Noomi Rapace.
Interesting quote from Fassbender:
when asked
Quote:
" So, should we take that to mean there's no longer any connection between "Prometheus" and the "Alien" franchise?
|
Quote:
"Oh, absolutely. There's a definite connecting vein,"

I know its not going to be a sequel or prequel but this movie has me excited. For me the original Alien is the best and seeing RS return to the genre is fantastic.

As long as its tied to the Alien universe in some way and the Xenomorph in particular I'll be happy. Ridley rarely disappoints.
I think when all is said and done its going to have more to do with the Alien than we expect. I'm guessing Ridley is just trying to give himself some creative freedom by distancing himself from the baggage that comes with an official prequel or sequel. Otherwise people will have all these expectations instead of just enjoying it for what it is.

Some interesting news:
Quote:
Sky confirms space jockeys in Prometheus
A couple of weeks ago British broadcaster Sky reported that a source close to them had revealed to the joy of many Alien fans that Prometheus will indeed involve the space jockey from Alien. Today Sky confirms this story stating that an insider has told them that the space jockey is being designed under the guidance of HR Giger, the original "father" of the space jockey.
And this time around, the space jockey won't be long gone and dead as it was in the original Alien. The insider says to Sky:
"I’ve had further confirmation that the Space Jockey creature is definitely in Prometheus and has been built as an eight foot animatronic."Bazinga!
Sky also reiterates that Prometheus will include a giant CGI developed head controlling one of the spaceships in the movie. And apparently this head will be semi-human...
"I’ve also had it confirmed that HR Giger is working on the project but only in an advisory capacity. By the way, people are going to be in for a shock when they sit down to watch Prometheus and there’s an enormous semi-human head piloting a spaceship."
It is without doubt a relief to many Alien fans to hear that HR Giger is still involved in Prometheus. After the news that Ridley Scott's return to science fiction was no longer a prequel to Alien but an entirely new project, many fans began to speculate whether or not Giger was still involved.

Cool. Sounds promising, although I'd like to have more of an insight into the origin of the species.

Not surprised by this development. I never really believed this was going to be an independent story outside the Alien universe. So far it sounds like a great idea.
