Gabriele Dell'Otto Commission Question
Hey guys! Does anyone know how much Dell'Otto charges for a commission that he does at Cons?
A fellow CAFer says that he can get me a commission & would like to trade it for one of my art. My request is for a color commission at least 11" x 17". I would get a Batman/Wonder Woman if he does a 2 character piece, a She-Hulk if it's a 1 character. He says no problem.
What he wants in return is a published wraparound cover measuring 17" x 22" from Budd Root's Cavewoman Prehistoric Pinups #5. It's 1 of only 3 covers that Budd did that's set during the Stone Age. See image below.
I know that the gentleman will incur all the usual fees associated with attending a Con along with his time. Now from what I noticed on eBay, Budd's pinups & covers have been selling for about $1K - $3K.
To make it fair for me, should I make this a trade+cash for my Budd Root cover? Any suggestions would be appreciated!

Dell'Otto only does commissions at cons. I'm not familiar with Bud's market value on his pieces, but Dell'Otto's painted commissions can reach up to $800 or $1K on convention commissions depending on subject matter. I would do a combination of cash and trade.

I'd probably keep that Budd Root piece. That's just me though.
I do LOVE Dell'Otto's work though. If you are looking to unload, try and get both the commissions you want and then some cash. Even if he won't go for that, you may still be able to work 2 Dell'Otto pieces out of him in trade for that piece. It never hurts to ask.

I think it's around 300-400 Euros.

I agree .. that Root cover is amazing! I would definitely want to have him show me some examples of work that would be representative of what you would be receiving.

Man, if it was me, I would keep that Budd Root piece, and find another way to get a Dell'Otto commission.

P.S.: Have you tried going to Jinxworld, and Dell'Otto's section, to contact him and ask him directly about a commission?

I've never been over to Jinxworld, especially now after someone posted a link on Bowen's message board. People who clicked on it said they got a virus/trojan.
