eBay Anniversary Card
I got a Happy Anniversary card from eBay today in the mail, congratulating me for hitting my 4 year anniversary mark as a member of their community, thanking me for helping make them successful and all that.
While this gesture was unexpected, it seems like a proper anniversary gift would be to deposit some dough in my PayPal account, dontcha think?

$...doubtful. Be glad you got a card, dude...at least they cared enough to send that. They didn't have to send anything.

That's funny, I received a restraining order in the mail today.
Enjoy your anniversary card!

Yeah, I know, that's why I said it was an unexpected gesture. I've been in direct marketing for financial services companies for a couple of decades now and this is a pretty standard, though surprisingly underutilized, low cost loyalty and customer retention tactic. Normally, if someone's a high risk customer (which I guess I'm not) there's an offer of some kind in there to stimulate trial/usage. I wasn't really serious about the money thing, though. Why should a firm give away their margin if they don't have to?
