Hi Cblakey,
I had logged on to see if anyone had misunderstood our post on our site about AIX, but I saw your post about the price for Katchoo. SRP was $79.00. It should be pointed out that we in the collectors business are only making 500-1,500 of any given statue these days. Not 100,000, which means a much lower production price. We also require a much higher standard of production than the average company making collectibles. I can easily take 100 hours to sculpt a piece like Katchoo. That is only the beginning. After that we pay to have the piece molded and for the master castings to be made. Next we pay to have the master painted and then comes photography. Then comes production costs for the run, shipping ocean freight to the US, domestic freight, customs duties, ad design, box design, FedEx (a medium sized box can cost $200.00 to ship to China) and, of course, the royalty to the licensor. There is also the company overhead, which entails the salaries and bills it takes to run any company and these costs are real and can be a significant part of any project.
I try to keep the prices for our items reasonable and I hope that my collectors continue to feel that they are worth the price. They are certainly a lot of work. If you think the price is too high, that is your opinion, but it's always best to consider what it takes to make these statues.
Regards,
CSM
