hey...the suicide bunnies is a fascinating book that got great reviews...

In case the title The Book of Bunny Suicides leaves any doubt in your mind, the answer is yes - it is just as sick as it seems. The good news, however, is that you will have plenty of time to read through it (possibly twice) well before the guilt for picking it up has a chance to settle in.

This book is just as advertised. The “plot” (which even used in the loosest sense is a stretch) centers on, what else, a bunny trying to commit suicide. Comedian and now-author Andy Riley displays his twisted sense of humor by aptly illustrating the countless ways a rabbit might successfully take his own life. From leaping into an airplane toilet and using a metal hanger to flush it, to lying under the back leg of a chair as an obese men is just about to plant himself upon it, to climbing into an old-fashioned toaster and pulling the “toast” lever, if it could lead to a bunny’s demise, it is in there.

As much as I hate to admit it, this book is laugh-out-loud funny. Initially you may resist the urge to smile but, eventually, your reaction is likely to transform into bursts of laughter followed by a sick appreciation for this guilty pleasure. Very few words are used so, as your brain works to chart the progression of the comic strip frames, you will find yourself predicting how each bunny will gleefully succeed in ending his life. And, I must add that I did derive an odd sense of comfort in the fact that there are at least two seemingly twisted ideas that I have yet to fully comprehend.

Andy Riley holds out his project as a book about bunnies trying to kill themselves and this is precisely what he delivers. Consider it sick. Consider it pointless. Consider it twisted. But, if you are to be honest, you must also consider it loads of fun.

I suppose if it had been "the Wolverine suicides" you'd be first in line.......
