Don't get me wrong I don't hate Bladerunner. It would still be on my list just not in the top 5. Just off the top of my head I would put at least these 5 ahead of it.

1. John Carpenter's the Thing
2. Aliens
3. The Terminator
4. Planet of the Apes
5. Star Wars (New Hope)

Yeah I think the main problem with this list is the omission of Planet of the Apes (original). Dont know HOW that could have happened

After thinking about it, am inclined to agree with HB (Scott) that the Road Warrior series of films would be science fiction. They show us a future planet earth devastated by nuclear war and what life is like for the survivors. I think that has to fit in as a sci fi storyline. Also that dude with the pink mohawk is an alien.
