Arrival 3/10

Only way it could have been worse is if Julia Roberts was in it

I thought this film was quite clever. While not a 9/10, I enjoyed it. It seems this one was either hot or cold with fans like Interstellar.

Kubo and the Two Strings
I'll go far as saying this is Laika's best yet. The story is touching and it's once again, a visual treat.
9/10

The Boy and the Beast
Been meaning to watch this for a while. It's a lot like Summer Wars in terms of pacing and story progression. Like one, you'll like the other.
8/10

Your Name
A very Japanese love story that had me hooked. If I hadn't seen similar ideas used in different ways many times before, I may have rated this higher.
7/10

Arrival
The movie breezed over a lot but it allowed a greater focus on the core idea.
7/10

Doctor Strange
Same ol' Marvel formula but why change what works?
7/10

Trolls
It's like a well polished turd.
6/10

My life as a Courgette
A nice, simple tale about life and I like stop motion.
6/10

X-Men: Apocalypse
I'm over the whole X-men movie thing. I could not care less about Jennifer Lawrence's Mystique. Can they please stop making her one of the central characters.
5/10

The Secret Life of Pets
It needed to be funnier and more truthful.
5/10

Sauasage Party
Too much stupid, not enough clever. The battle and murder scenes were my favourite.

Kong: Skull Island.
9/10 I had a blast with this film. Might not hold up when viewed on a screen at home, but it was the best cinema experience in a long time.

Yes the emphasis is on family and the outbreak takes place on a train so nice balance of characterization and action to keep you entertained

La La Land
It's a fun movie with catchy tunes, though a little over-used. A lot was asked of the actors and they performed well but could've done better, especially in the dance choreography.

It often fell back into a typical romance about diverging paths but always found a way to spring back to quirky. I just wish it stayed quirky throughout.

Ryan Gosling fit the role better than Emma Stone. I don't even begin to agree with her winning best actress for this. Oh well, maybe it was a dead year.

Whiplash is the better movie. Partly due to JK Simmons' character. I loved that asshole. This movie needed a good asshole lol. His cameo was not enough.
8/10

Lion
A well told story that pulls on those strings.

Finding Dory 7/10

A lot better than I was expecting. Might even prefer it to Nemo
