This is unfortunately the current climate we live in where anything can be offensive.

I can think of three other reasons to change the name off the top of my head.
1. Because you've already got Black Widow, Black Panther and the Group itself is called "The Black Order" at some point it does get a little redundant and his name is the easiest to change since he's probably not going to be a huge character in the greater scheme of things
2. Dialogue - Oh come on, can you picture Thanos calling him "The Black Dwarf" in some serious monologue about killing off all the heroes? Or even When he's telling him to do something "Black Dwarf, Go kill Iron man!" And how is Tony not going to snicker every time he says his name?
3. Out of all the names in the world, especially for a huge Alien, why is his name "Black Dwarf"? I mean I could see it as a Code Name or Moniker because of his density but as his actual name? Were the guys at Marvel drunk and tired that day and he was the last character they were naming? Just seems out of place with Characters like Corvus Glaive and Proxima Midnight. He really got the short end of the stick.
So those would be the reason I think the name was changed, not some off the wall conspiracy about weird people online. They may even keep the Code Name Black Dwarf and just name him Cull Obsidian.
