please let this happen
for the sake of:
1) no characters being shunned from the comics
2) incorporating xmen and FF into the MCU
3) marvel vs capcom infinite needs xmen and ff characters badly

Can't believe I hadn't thought of this as a possible resolution! But...looks like the deal is dead though.

The willingness to engage in sale talks with Disney is an encouraging sign.
Hope this will bear fruition in the near future.

This may sound like a good idea for X-Men & FF fans, but I would be a little concerned about how big Disney is attempting to get. Less competition hasn't exactly resulted in good things.

It's not like Fox is offering much in the way of competition outside of Deadpool anyway. Most of their films aren't exactly mind blowing. The best thing their TV side produced according to most was Legion, which I thought was Meh, and the gifted is really losing me at this point because it's soooo boring. I mean outside of the X-files nostalgia pulling at my heart strings and Lucifer giving me a good laugh I can't think of a Fox show I'm wanting to watch.

I am mainly speaking of the precedent of a huge company buying out yet another studio/rival.

Gotcha, I'd be more concerned if it were Warner Bros. They are the #2 studio behind Disney. and if Disney were to buy Fox it might open up things for Sony and NBC/Universal to have a larger market share since one studio less will be grabbing film licenses and making films.
I think this is just a bid to get properties they really want back more than grow as a film studio. X-men alone is probably worth the money with the film rights and the merchandising that goes with it.

Disney has a better reason buy Fox than X-Men/Fantastic Four, which is that it would own all of Star Wars. (Fox retained ownership of Episode IV -- A New Hope.)
However, buying Fox would create new problems. For example, currently, Disney doesn't release any R-rated movies. If they bought Fox, they'd have to decide if they want to make more R-rated movies like Deadpool/Logan/Kingsman/Alien/Predator/etc.
Btw, if Disney buys Fox, they'd have the Ice Age series as well.

Fox only had distribution rights for Dreamworks and it's since been moved to NBC Universal and they actually own Dreamworks.
