The Lion King (2019) - After the murder of his father, a young lion prince flees his kingdom only to learn the true meaning of responsibility and bravery.

The realistic animals, as amazing as they looked, don't have the emotional range that the cartoon animals had in the original. 5/10

james and the giant peach (1996) - 4/10

pretty trippy movie, decent stop motion animation (although there has been much better) but overall just kind of weird and i dont think i liked any of the songs. all the live action parts were terrible imo

Les Misérables (2019) - A cop from the provinces moves to Paris to join the Anti-Crime Brigade of Montfermeil, discovering an underworld where the tensions between the different groups mark the rhythm.

This movie had me on edge almost from start to finish. There is a brief respite in the second half, but then the intensity doubles down and comes back hard until the explosive finale. 8/10

Conan the Barbarian (2011) 7/10

I hadn't seen this since I saw it in the theater when it came out. It was decent. I think Jason Mamoa could have been a really good Conan if more were made but this was kind of a weak story and as always they feel the need to start wtih him as a boy and spend half the movie on a back story. Anyway it was ok. Ron Perlman terribly miscast as Conan's dad IMO

Me neither but the 1982 masterpiece one should be required viewing for every adolescent boy.

I don't think a true Conan can fit into mainstream media in the current climate. Even the 1984 sequel Conan the Barbarian, got scared and pulled it's punches.

I went to a general store. They wouldn't let me buy anything specifically.

Agreed 100%. Then a cold beer should follow. Our warrior class is weakening. Movies like these are needed as a reminder.
