Ahhh, my mistake. I thought that was an update from Chronicle that they'd posted somewhere.

No worries. That one looks even better than CC's proto. It really brought it to life.

Also, since I'm being asked to show my work...

the SWS 1:5th piece CC was tasked with replicating
The posted maquette was the primary reference 1:5th maquette for SWS in the construction and paint application of their 1:1 Tyrannosaurus rex animatronic sculpt. Three in total were created. One for SWS, one for ILM (later reconstructed and currently at display at the Dallas ILM office after some repairs by SWS due to production damage), and one that was repositioned and gifted to Spielberg.

SWS 1:5th (same as previously posted model):

Spielberg's copy:

Spielberg's copy, however, had a twin, which was created for JP, but left unused until TLW. This version had alternate coloration, and slightly different posing particularly in the mouth area.

These are the references they used
You can see multiple images of it as well as the repainted 1:1 SWS animatronic head. And yes, it was reskinned and repainted. SWS did this with all of the animatronics that utilized foam rubber that they wanted to keep for display. And if I have to back THAT up, people will be getting slapped with my copy of The Winston Effect. Why there's an image of the TLW Bull T. rex animatronic head included among them, I do not know.

Several photos of the repainted head and TLW 1:5th maquette can be seen here, including the one I posted on the previous page and these:

That's a lot of pics. I still don't see one where it explains why they did theirs so light compared to all the reference you say they used or we are just getting bad pics of it. I have to find my Winston Effect book and look myself too then and see what that shows, it's been a while.

Please keep the conversation civil. I enjoy pics and dinosaur talk, not dealing with hissy fits. Thank you and carry on.

Can somebody please confirm this?

My dealer tells me it's 213cm x 92cm x 61cm (LxWxH ) and 75kg.

***nevermind, saw the box picture somebody posted a couple of pages back***

The seventh picture down from Dinoforevers post illustrates why they chose the color scheme they did. Even has the references they used in red outline to show why they went so light.
