Thanks man! It's definitely a work of art just by itself.

I wasn't happy with the gold on the edges, I thought it was too much, so I repainted it to the gunmetal grey and I'll do something else for the pillar insets.
Whacked the rust too.

I'll do the trim on the pillars in gunmetal grey and the inset in dark blue maybe.

Finished painting the base today, I'll seal it with a good protective gloss coat and then bring it down after with a satin finish. I'll do the switch-out logos in silver and black.
Primed the lower half of the body and did the shadowcoat on the boots.

Wow. You are a real artist.

I also like the base better without the gold

Yeah, I was drifting away from my core principle for this piece...the eyes must be pulled directly to the statue. The red, blue and yellow will do that naturally so I needed to simplify things a bit and keep it as "base of steel" not "base of competing shiny metals" That splash of gunmetal blue on the pillar insets was all I needed.

Thanks Sonic!
I just put the gloss coat on....now I'm not so sure I want to tone it down.... let's see how I feel in 24 hours after it cures some more.

Got the first logo switch-out for the base done, just needs a gloss coat tomorrow...man that's pretty. Shadowcoat for the legs done...that dark purple makes for excellent shadows for blue. The belt got a gold undercoat first since yellow doesn't cover very well; this prevents a greyish hue. Next is preshading for the boots and legs. Then the trunks. Aiming to get the lower half of the body completed before moving to the upper half where there is multiple of everything.

Finished the super boots today.
Not a lot of dynamic highlights and shadows so I did pre shading and highlights at once.

Blend it together with the base color red. A small shot of transparent black to reinforce the arches.

Detail the fine shadows along the top and bottom edges with black pastels. Finished with a satin coat.

All done. Pretty darn natural looking, no harsh shadows, no beaming highlights. That's the name of the game for this one.
