Yeah, I wasn't that familiar with his work, either, but this came up on my Facebook feed and, out of curiosity, I started reading his note. Then, when I read on that tweet from Comic Tropes, posted afterwards, that he went ahead and did it, it... hit hard.

I caught most of this today on FB, as well. So disturbing. So upsetting. That he felt so damaged by others that he took this final step is just unthinkable. But it happened, that’s what he did. There’s a lesson or more in here somewhere but, right now, I’m not sure what it is.

Never heard of him, but that note really encompasses how deranged social media has made the world and how insane we are to give these losers online so much power over our lives.

Yeah people are not meant to socialize ad nauseam.
When casual interactions with other people were more rare and in person there was courtesy and decorum in social interaction instead of tirelessly focusing on disagreements.
And when not people at least had more space and time to cool off and to go to far greater effort to antagonize each other.

This is a very sad and shocking story.
I have all three of Ed Piskor's X-Men: Grand Design oversize TPBs. They are very good, retelling the history of the X-Men in an underground comix style. He was very talented.

He engaged in cancel culture against others but couldn't even make it a week when it came for him. The allegations were highly embarrassing, but not illegal.
He at least named the people responsible for targeting him. He should have dedicated his life to fighting them, instead of taking his life.
