I have read that some have cut up and reused their old molds that they don't need to cut down the amount of fresh silicone they need for a new mold. How is this done? do you use small pieces, big chunks? Do you add them before you pour your fresh stuff or squish them in after? Does it matter how old the molds are? Does it matter if some cured silicone is touching your sculpt, or should you only have fresh stuff in contact with the piece? Is there any danger of the silicone not sticking to each other i.e. some mold release from the old mold in contact with fresh stuff. Any help would be appreciated.

from what i've read, it's usually recycled for filling a support shell. you'd probably not want to reuse silicone for the initial detail layers. it might have picked up dirt, oils, or resin, which would ruin the integrity of the sculpts details.
