I shipped a staue fromRocky's Vault to a guy in Singapore and in our email communcations he told me this.
"I called up XM studios and i heard some interesting news.
they are hearing talk that randy might not be putting out much bowens or stop altogether, since they are pulling out from one of their factories
they are also thinking of taking the 1/6 scale on the anime type of artistic direction or following BD artistic mantle.
we probably hear more by september when they announce"

That's certainly interesting. To whom is this phrase pertaining to? Bowen Designs or XM Studios?
So XM Studios wants to replace Bowen Designs huh? I do love their 1/4th scale Magneto but the price is too high for me. Now if they also did 1/6th BD style...interesting...definitely interesting.

I think he is referring to Bowen but I'll try to get clarification.

Further e-mail communications,
"I was mentioning that XM is taking the 1/6 scale. i spoke to the boss for xm and he confirmed that randy would be retiring.
xm plans to showcase their 1/6 scale nxt yr as they are still working on details and also their focus is on 1/4.
apparently they planning to do for the xmen line and avengers."

As a Bowen collector, it is kinda sad to hear that Randy is planning to retire. But more power to the man. He has been a pillar for the industry undoubtedly. Hopefully, other companies can fill the vacuum left for Marvel and 1/6 scale fans.

I doubt Randy is retiring. He just built a new Studio from the ground up.

Unless XM got the go-ahead from Marvel to actually sell directly to American retailers, I don't think I could entertain the idea of collecting a 1:6 line from them. I'm willing to put up with the high international shipping cost on their Magneto statue, but that would be a one-time thing.
But if Bowen Designs really did exit the Marvel game, maybe that does leave the door open for XM to take over. They seem like they'd be more aggressive about putting out product than Kotobukiya has been.

Retiring could be a Singapore term for quitting the Marvel license.

Well Randy was apparently asking on FB what non-X-Men/Avenger character people would like to see. Why keep asking for this type of input or showing spec pieces if it didn't seem like the contract was going to go through or if he was going to step away from Marvel???
