I don't think so.

Here you can see that the crosshatching is very noticeable as in the prototype.

IMO It makes no sense because that jim lee aspect doesn't translate well in 3D. In fact, there is no crosshatching in the rest of the hush line.

I guess they thought nightwing's suit was very simple so first, they added different sections and textures and second, they added crosshatching to "fill the gaps".

Doesn't ruin the piece, it is just a weird way to scratch the suit.

This is an awesome looking Nightwing. The Batman Batcave has the cross hatching and it looks great in my opinion.

Either way, it is on the verge of selling out.

Why is hatching a good technique?
While using hatching or crosshatching in a drawing can create a variety of textures, the technique is mostly used to create a full range of value. The placement of values within the work leads to the illusion of the form of the subject as well as the illusion of a defined light source.

It's a good technique for drawing; it's not meant for 3D art like statues. I get why they did it since Lee uses it a lot, but I don't want cross-hatching on everything. I noticed they put it on the Fabok statue as well. Hopefully, they just stop doing it as it looks out of place on a statue that has simulated realistic looking material on it.

Before you criticize someone, you should walk a mile in their shoes. That way, when you criticize them, you're a mile away and you have their shoes.

Maybe the crosshatch effect is there because Jim Lee himself suggested it. At the end of the day DC has to approve these designs…whom better than Lee himself.

These statues get approved through the Asian WB/DC office. Chad from Tweeterhead mentioned it back a year or so ago. It's the reason they approve statues with guns and other weapons. Supposedly, it is much harder to get a statue holding a gun approved by the home office.

congrats! I think this is the best we're gonna get for this character for a while. I personally would've preferred a different pose but I'll be happy with it in my collection

Awesome. When it comes to the "Bat-Family" I'm a hater, but this Nightwing is pretty darn cool. Post pics when you get him in.
