I admit I love the Harry Potter movies. Its one of the few franchises the wife and myself can sit down and watch over and over. Such great imagination.

My comment comparing Harry Potter to another franchise such as Star Wars was meant to illustrate the creative vision lacking in most of today's successful films. Star Wars, Star Trek and even Buck Rodgers and Battle Star Galactica (70s) were much more creative and did more for the sci-fi genre than HP imo. HP looks pretty, had a decent cast, story and director but it isn't bringing anything new to the table imo.

Oh contraire. First off, IMO Harry Potter is not part of the SF genre. He's part of the Fantasy genre and IMO, he brought a lot new to the table. In fact, prior to Harry Potter, how a wizard became a wizard was all steeped in mystery and the unknown. How did Merlin become Merlin? Conan had it's Wizard but where did he come from or get his powers. Wizards in the movies are almost always adult males and no history as to where they came from. HP presented a whole new theory/scenario on how wizards came to be wizards.

Have you ever imagined a world with no hypothetical situations?

Are you implying Merlin went to Hogwarts??
I love the HP series, books and movies. You are correct that this falls under fantasy rather than sci-fi, which many think are interchangeable due to them being lumped that way in the mainstream.
Anyway, as far as HP having an impact, the series has had a tremendous impact as far as fantasy is concerned, just give it a few more years and you're going to see how many future creators were influenced by it.
I like that it was initially aimed at a generation of children, but each subsequent book grew darker as the originally intended reader aged. It's also a testament to it that adults are as big fans of this series as kids are. HP is a modern day classic that will endure, not unlike LOTR or SW.

Before you criticize someone, you should walk a mile in their shoes. That way, when you criticize them, you're a mile away and you have their shoes.

Amazing Spider-Man 9/10
Wow I think I liked this better than the first 3 easily, Lizard was ok, Emma Stone did a good job, Andrew Garfield was excellent. A few little issues but very minor.
Ted 9/10
Man this was funny, but I am also a huge fan of Family Guy and the style they do things in, so it may not be for everybody.
Seeing Brave tomorrow and hopefully Prometheus soon after.
