Hot Toys Dark Knight Bust(original suit).
Just got him today after work. The best thing to look forward to after a long long day slogging at the office......ahhhhhhhhhhhh.
First thing is, when I opened him up for inspection at XL, whoah! This baby is heavy. I thought it was gonna be light hollow pvc bust, but no, quite heavy. Like the usual resin busts I've bought.
Ding ding, positive points.
Next, is the paint job. It's mostly black, but it looks good. Smooth, and not glossy. The eyes are nicely done with a slight gloss. No lipsticks effect on Batman. Good good good. Positive points.
The sculpt, fantastic. It looks like Christian Bales mouth to me, and the proportion of the head with the shoulders and part of the torso looks quite right as the Bale's body in the Batsuit. Unlike the Hot Toys Batman Begins doll which still seems to buff and a little out of proportion in relation to the head to me.
Good good good. Positive points.
Negative points?
There seems to be some minor things like at the edge of his cape at the back, some small thin pieces of black paint like thing dangling. I pulled it off. At the inside of his cape, a part of the surface seems to have small little pieces of flakes on the surface. That's the best I can describe it. It's not entirely a smooth suface as I expected, but got some 'flakes' on the surface. But not peeling-of kind of flakes. They are there but looks like stuck down.
The stand/base is plastic, and lows you to rotate batman. The Batman logo and name stencil is not very impressive.
Packaging. Nothing fancy. Just a 4 colour box, with a window so you can peer at Batman from outside. No movie photos, just illustrations of city buildings at the front and shots of the bust at the back. Minimal product information.
All in all, at roughly USD58, wow, what a bargain.
I've got Hot Toys and Aliens 1/4 busts on preorder too. Looking forward to get them. Woohoo.
