Okay. Here's my sweeping take on everything discussed yesterday while I was finishing installations:

Movie Musicals: I loved Hairspray, despite it having John Travolta in it. It had James Marsden singing peppy, fun songs, and he's so fine I can forgive anything else about the movie that bothered me (which wasn't much). Phantom of the Opera was just...boring. Somehow, the magic of the stage play was seriously lost when translated to the screen, despite the chops of Rachel McAdams. Chicago was very good, although it has the fewest 'sing-along' songs that I've ever heard. But few modern things beat the movie musicals of Yesteryear.

I'm actually hoping that they'll do the Legally Blonde: The Musical movie, because that was a -fun- show to watch on MTV.

I agree that the people on this forum are a great bunch. Even though I haven't needed any support, it's nice to know I can come to you guys if I need to.

Jesse, I love your statues. I wish I had the money to get kits done, or the talent to do them myself at home. Maybe some day. Still, I love to look at them.

And, on a final note, installations are done! Woo!

I don't get whats so great about hairspray. And sorry, James Mardsen isn't enough for me (not the type of guy I'm usually attracted to anyway).

I just love phantom of the opera, period. I've seen it on broadway and the movie. My sisters and mom and I loved watching it together. Chicago won Best Freakin' Picture for Pete's sake.

Actually, I won't spend money on it, but I will happily watch it when it comes on cable. I think having Earl as the manager instead of Dave Seville will be interesting.

Oh, wait. That's just the way Jason Lee acts. :tounge:

But you didn't like the John Waters movie, so your opinion of the musical is immediately colored by that perception. And it's okay that you aren't attracted to James Marsden. If we all liked the same kind of guy, the world would be boring.

I love the stage play of Phantom. The STAGE PLAY. The movie was BORING. Period. :tounge: I tried four times to watch it, and could never get past 'Angel of Music.' And I like Chicago, but I really judge a musical by the number of songs that I walk out of the theater humming. Which is the best way to judge them, as the book on musicals is usually not as strong as the score.

Actually, he's done some great stuff. Most of it has been for Kevin Smith, but there's some good stuff out there. Chasing Amy and Dogma are great, and A Guy Thing actually wasn't terrible.
