And seriously... someone threatens to put a stop to all of your nefarious plans and what do you do? You get your servant to see him to the door!?!

Dr Who villains are worse than Bond villains. Just frickin' shoot/stab/eat him!!!

I enjoyed it personally. It was a good old fashioned romp. If I have one complaint about Moffat's era so far though it's that he seems to be playing it very 'safe' as far as violence and Who's darker themes go. A little too safe and too clean in my opinion, and I don't think it would hurt to get a little darker or more graphic when the story call for and justifies it, just as classic Who did on occasion.

I did enjoy the nod to Hartnell too. The odd nod to classic Who's State of Decay as well.

I thought that Angels story was rather macabre, with the Angels snapping necks and removing their victims' throats, and a spaceship that crashed with no survivors.

However, I do get your point, and I think that the only two on-screen deaths so far have been the two squadies zapped by the Ironsides. Not that I think that for something to be "dark" or have an "edge" it requires on-screen deaths.

A good episode, but not a great one. The Doctor's appearance at Rory's stag do was funny, and the addition of Rory to the Tardis crew created a fun new dynamic between the Doctor, Amy and Rory. However, I didn't think that the Vampires seemed very threatening, or the ending all that dramatic.

Next week looks very interesting ....
*spoilers*
I thought the episode was average as well....some things didnt make sense to me.....like why would you risk sending the only alien women you had to get the doctor?...or why the queen committed suicide? wouldnt you maybe try somewhere else before giving up on your race?... The worst part of the episode is when the man who lost his daughter screams out "We are venicen!" right before he takes out all the alien women with him. I couldnt believe I just watched that. Did moffat just finish watching 300?..

I thought this episode had some of the funniest moments yet. The beginning with the dr at the stag do was classic.

What was up with william hartnell's doctor showing up on the psychic paper though?

I think that the Doctor had just pulled out a library card by mistake, rather than the psychic paper.

As the Doctor is meant to have this brilliant mind, and a thought process far beyond that of mere humans, I'd love to know why jumping out of the cake was better than just walking straight into the pub!
