If it sucks, it seems they'll just arbitrarily pick a number from 1-5 sometimes 6 with no obvious differentiation.
The 5 point system just lumps all the suckage into 1 number (or 2) depending on how you want to look at it.
1 Poor
2 Fair
3 Average (Good)
4 Great
5 Awesome (Perfect)
Alright, I'm stepping off now...

You've convinced me - I am going with a score out of 5 from now on!
Hopefully more people will convert! Maybe it will stop ratings that end in .5 too... Oh, you rated that movie a 6.5 because it didn't deserve a 7 but was better than a 6? Makes total sense

Who does? Have I? I don't think I do...
It wouldn't be the first time I do something that annoys the hell out of me

Haha I sure did but was actually talking to a friend yesterday & thinking about upgrading LR to a 3 in retrospect. I think .5s are still valid if you want to be even more discerning with your score.
I mentioned before in this thread that I thought .5's in a scale where you have 10 numbers to choose from seemed kinda silly.

I get what snappa is saying - when you use a .5 you mine as well just rate it out of 10 anyways. And that is why they annoy me...

Since you're using a 10 point system already, might as well do an "out of 10". I agree that decimals are overkill on a 10 point system, but 10 points is a nice round number that almost all of us use. If it ain't broke....

If a movie gets a 1,2,3,4 or sometimes even 5 out of 10 you know it's going to suck so why not just give it a 1 out 5? I wasn't campaigning for the 5 point system til you pointed it out but it works for me. Whatever floats your boat

I respect your opinion. You have every right to be wrong. Seriously though, you run into the same problem wit a 5 (10) point system too don't you? Anything below 2.5 is going to be crap. Same, same.
