Depending on the length of the saber the EX version might come in handy if display space is an issue. Other than that seems silly.

well blades should come off now that there is no light ups...
and yes.. I take the flat base with a low price over a unnecessary high base any day !

+1. Big question is will it actually keep the price down? Weak switch-out, no light up feature and a pretty simplistic and small PF (Maul is short) when all is said and done = a $400 statue on its best day, which probably isn't happening. I love the look of this piece, right up my ally, but as has been mentioned price point is going to be the determining factor here.

Honestly, I am hoping that the higher prices on the recent TFA PFs is simply due to a price hike associated with the new trilogy and Prequel and OT PFs will remain below the $500 mark like the most recent Sandtrooper PF at least in the short term.
