Over ten years ago I owned a Remington pump shotgun (I forget the model), which I bought after the trailer myself and a bud lived in (with our Rotts) was broken into while we were all away. They couldn't get into the main part of the trailer because of the amount of locks on the door, but they stole stuff from our indoor porch.. haha... and put the glass from the window they removed back on upside-down (which we know because our dog's pawprints were 're-arranged' so that they'd be putting them on the window from hanging over the edge of the roof, instead of from standing up on their hind legs).
Anywhoo.. the trailer was out in wine country, and our only "neighbors" were two winery/vineyards that were on the hills to our east and west. I was at home in the evening while my girlfriend at the time borrowed my car, and my friend was out with his lady, so it appeared to passerby that nobody was home. My Rott, Roxy, started goin' berzerk and I went to the front and saw people piling out of a truck in my front yard, who I had no idea who they were. I inquired who they were or if they were lost, and they piled into their truck and took off.
We lived there for about a year. A few months later they came by again, and both my and my girlfriend's car were in the front but that didn't stop me from seeing a truck I knew was theirs by then stopping at the opposite end of a road that led into our trailer.
By then I had the shotgun, and I loaded it and shot it off twice into the air (towards a vineyard, which was closed during that season, with no residents) and they f#ckin' piled into their truck and hauled @ss on out of there. There had been other robberies in the area recently, and others claimed they saw a truck that resembled theirs. Plus, there being four or five of them.. shooting the gun off was justified. No way in Hell would I let my lady, my dogs, or myself be harmed by degenerates.
Haha.. good times. I'm not a huge fan of guns, by the way.. but nor would I cower in fear of one if someone brandished it against loved ones with intent to harm them in any way.
