Hey guys, just leaving an update.
First of all, a bit of a weird twist. When I received my helmet from the eBay auction, it was still sealed, and contained the invoice for the original purchaser. So since Star Wars Shop said they could only refund to the original purchaser, I tried contacting him, using the information from the invoice.
I left a couple of voicemails and an email, but got no reply. That's when I did a search to see if there was any other way of contacting him, only to realize that there was a reason his name was somewhat familiar. It was Dean Pedersen, who, as many of you know, had a series of setbacks this year. Many of you came together to auction off collectibles to raise money for him (including a model donated by MR). Well, I was aware of his troubles, but did not realize he passed away in September. It was a sad realization, and certainly puts things into perspective.
His wife maintains a site to his memory:

I think one should take a look at it and try to appreciate what they have, despite the small complications we tend to focus on.
Evntually, I decided to notify MR of the situation, and it seems they might be able to help me afterall. Just wanted to share this intriguing episode with you folks, thanks for your advice.
