Series 9 premiere - "The Magician's Apprentice"

Lots of surprises with this episode. I like Capaldi as The Doctor, and this season's premiere was a good start, plot-wise (Davros is a great villain), but the electric guitar & tank was the worst kind of crap.

I like Capoldi, haven't liked the story writing so much since he arrived though, he needs some strong moments as he isn't being used to his potential. I'll judge last nights episode after the second part next week, but it was okay..

Thanks to BBCA, I was able to catch "Genesis of The Daleks", the 4th Doctor episode that ties into this Season's premiere. It gave me even more of an appreciation for this current storyline. Very nicely done, in fact - it ties it all together very well.

Just watched the premiere last night and thought it was great! I'm also happy about the Breakfast With Baker thing they're doing, which is showing classic Tom Baker (4th Doctor) episodes everyday. I've set the DVR to record those, can't wait to dig in. The 4th Doctor was my doctor growing up. I used to watch the show on PBS back in the early 80's. Anyway, great start to a new season!

They only have a small sampling of Baker episodes on Netflix, so I was pretty excited to see them cherry picking some of his better tales on BBCA! Now I just have to find the time to watch them all!

I really could not get into the last series, only watched a few episodes, just did not grab me, but the first episode of this series was great!!

And I loved the Doctor Rocking out!!

Also Got my second 11th 1/6 figure which also comes with a Capaldi head!

Well, I can't do this anymore: I am taking a break from Doctor Who. Last season was middling at best, not coming around until the finale - and just barely, at that. While it seemed like this season would get things in gear, it's coming off as more of the same. Even a two-parter with Maisie Williams didn't help.

This show has seriously lost something. It seems as if it's become drunk on its own popularity. There were signs towards the end of Matt Smith's run, but with Capaldi, they're not even trying. And the sonic sunglasses? Gawd.
