Chris, do you recommend FedEx over USPS or UPS? What about you Drew?
Thanks for the responses gents... I really do appreciate it!

As has been mentioned, Fedex has the best boxes for shipping in terms of the supplies available from UPS, USPS and Fedex. I just don't like using them as they're a bit more expensive and you can't ship to a PO Box with them.

This brings up the old phrase, "you get what you pay for"
The PO box thing is really the only downside.

I started my comic art business about 14 months ago and in that time have shipped 50 or more packages to the USA, Spain, UK, France, Norway, Portugal, Denmark, Netherlands and Singapore (I may have missed a country or two).
I have been complimented on my packaging which involves shipping the artwork in sealable plastic bags between two 1/2 inch thick sheets of foam core board. The foam core board (made by Elmer's of Columbus, Ohio) has proved light and sturdy material and although it does add to the cost, my buyers would rather pay a little extra to have the artwork arrive safely.
Friends of mine who also operate as original art dealers use masonite but sending that stuff overseas adds to the cost with the weight factor. Best,
Royd

I knew I could count on you guys. Thanks for all the feedback and tips.
I'm going to look into the FedEx options but all the packing tips are making me feel better about shipping USPS. I will DEFINITELY avoid shipping the art UPS.
From reinforced cardboard to masonite to foam core boards, I think I'll use a combination of methods based on the value of the art.
Thanks again gents!
