Well what I was looking for is...

should I sand the area a little first or just attack with a sharpie.

Is there any primer I should use etc etc?

what type of paint should be used
enamel, acrylic?

If you want to do it right you should sand the immediate area around the chip or fill in the difference with some Aves putty. You can get some airbrush primer and prime it if you like but I don't think its really necessary if its a little nick or chip. Getting the right color is the tricky part. It could be either enamel or acyrilic quite honestly. I would PM Saul or Danno for advice on exact color matching. Good luck.
