Mr. Paquet,
I second your feelings about sketches and roughs. They are often the most expressive, energetic, and fun part of the process.
In your Hellboy, one of the things that stands out for me is the hair. It reminded me of the Japanese bear sculptures the Iida and Shirokiya stores in Ala Moana Shopping Center use to sell. Blocky forms with that wonderful incised texture to give them life.
Another feature that strikes me is the carved look. I know this is in part due to the M. Mignola source, but the sense of material being cut away to reveal the subject is strong and a perfect choice of technique.
As with the store bears, this is a sculpture I could enjoy as much with fingertips as with eyes.
Thanks for the share.

Hands down William you are my favorite sculptor, but man, it is getting harder and harder to visit this forum. Every time I see one of your pieces, I want it, and wonder if it will ever see the light of day. I would love to see someone pick this up. Do you read The Goon? I would love to see a "rough" version of the Goon. I really like this style of sculpting and the Goon would be a good character.

That is the intention here, and really what separates sculpture from two-dimensional art and why I will always maintain that it is the king of all artistic media. You get an additional tactile sensation and can feel what the artist felt. Thanks for the great note.
Big thanks also to everyone that said nice things. Art is useless without an audience to see it.

William, I just can't get enough of the rough sketches. And the use of shadow created by your pics and by the Mignola's character design (I'm talking about the pronounced brow) really sets the mood for the piece. Love this stuff.
