It's funny though because I love Beast Wars just as much as G1 Transformers, and that's a very similar situation to Clone Wars and original trilogy Star Wars.

Clone Wars and it's lineage (Rebels, Bad Batch) are about the only 'Star Wars' I haven't experienced. I thought I could avoid them, albeit knowing some broad strokes, and be fine. But since Disney made them the only other thing canon with the movies when they took over, I felt left behind. I haven't watched Ahsoka because I want to watch all the prior stuff first.
I've been vocal about disliking the animation and sabers specifically, but there are other story-related decisions that I definitely do not like, and why I'm not as thrilled with Filoni as others are.
Your experience mimics mine with DBZ a quarter century ago. I tried to watch that a few times (my brother had already been into it) and I thought it was so stupid. Then, I caught an episode from the Cell saga, and was hooked. Don't recall exactly why.
