So to clarify, he went from "Barbarian" to "Conan the Barbarian"?

The way I heard it, coughing up the cash to be an official Conan licensee was their best available option after certain...concerns were raised by certain interested parties.
Or at least so I've been told by someone who has regular dealings with Paradox (who currently owns the Robert E Howard character library) anyhow.
That may or may not be true, I have no evidence one way or the other, just passing along the scuttlebutt because I found it kind of interesting, but the person who told me is usually pretty trustworthy so I wouldn't be at all surprised if there was in fact truth in it. Even more so given that Paradox have a reputation of being pretty litigious, and that this piece definitely draws strong influence from some famous Conan artworks...
Not that it matters to me one way or the other, from a collector perspective. Personally from the shoulders down I quite like it. Unfortunately (for me) I really strongly dislike the face and weirdly shaped hair hat, so that killed my interest. If it had a better and less weird looking head sculpt I'd be all over this. Oh well, to each their own.
As a Conan collector though, I'll still be interested to see what else they do come up with, now that they are an official licensee.
