Yep I agree with you, Comp. If you have a large collection and limited space, don't cram out all of your collection. Display a selection and then when you fancy a change, rotate it with other pieces.

Nothing worse than an overly crowded display.

I have about 50 fs statues and the whole thing displays beautifully.
You need to post pictures.

Actualy all the pieces are in the son's room right now. I don't know how many hundred. They are displayed on custom built shelves and look quite amazing when you walk in. But at 15, he's like a bull in a china shop. We're actually converting a room to build display cases to put 'em all in. His room is getting redone. He will only end up with about 5-10 pieces in his room when all is said and done.

You've never been to the shop I used to go to where I used to live! He had a lot of stuff, but needed a much bigger store. I know what you mean though. I bought a big display cabinet when we finally moved into our new house, and it's pretty crammed with statues. In my case, I was just happy to have it all on display. At least half of what I had was packed away at our old house. And some things I bought and only opened just to make sure it wasn't broken, then packed them away again. The plan down the road is when we finish the basement that will be "my" area, and I'll move alot of my stuff down there, in other cabinets.

Ah, wait till you see mine.... it'll take a few years to get it perfect - but the Marvel Den will be museum quality.... sigh. My childhood dream. But - when I move into my home in Hawaii in Aug I'll finally have the time and own the place in order to set up the den the way I want it....

Mine is currently overcrowded. I plan on spacing it out more as I acquire extra display space. I'd rather have a crowded display, though, than have everything in boxes.

This is somewhat contradictory to what a lot of people seem to want to do and that is have statues in scale, and right next to each other, maybe even facing so it looks like they're beating the hell out of each other. The picture on the home page for BD looks good to me with that FS and MB's close together. But he used to have one that had a lot of the MB's close together and I thought it looked great, even had a humorous quality with all of them grouped together like that. That said, I do prefer to have mine in their own space, although none of them are displayed right now.

Well, I think it would look great to face off a couple of statues or something like that for scale/effect. I am mainly talking about cramming as many statues/busts as you can on a shelf or display case. If it's done well, I think most look pretty good...I just don't care for the overcrowded look. As for me, I think I'll thin out my displays and rotate out the statues. I can't post pics because I live in CA and since I had a couple statues break in an Earthquake I now keep all mine in the boxes till I can move off a faultline.

Great thread, Comp. I'm in the "less is more" camp as well.

Must be tough to have everything in their boxes and not display them. If that were the case, I'd end up selling them all. I wouldn't want to have them in storage indefinitely, never to see the light the day.
