Wow, that was a "tremendous" act of Kindness (as previously stated) I have has some really good experiences at the P.O of late. Nothing compared to this, which did touch me deeply. Thanks so much for sharing. These kinds of stories always renew my faith in humanity. Even it's only 1 in a million, somehow it makes everyone seems friendlier and the world seem a little kinder.

that's cool. Rarely if ever would you see something like that in NYC. Instead some group would call for the worker's head shouting separation of church and state. but i digress, its still very touching.

Oh my. You've made this concrete barbarian's eyes well up. Feel-good story of the 2000's. I laughed. I cried. It was better than Cats.

Right on! This temporarily restores my faith in humanity. Enevitably someone else will come along and do something that will set it back again but hey, it's uplifting to know there are some good folks out there.

Oh, I disagree. I lived in NYC from 1982 - 1997 (all around, Astoria, Long Island City, Prospect Heights in Brookly, Harlem) and lots of time New Yorkers have helped me out. For spotting me money for a deli sandwich when I was young and broke, to giving directions, to just chatting on the subway (seriously). I think the callousness of New Yorkers is overstated, based on my personal experience of 15 years.
Glad everyone liked this story. Definitely a tear jerker.

I think you ought to let your local newsreporter know about this story so such behavior can be applauded throughout the country.
