I hope to get a telephoto lens for holidays this year but the L series is out of my price range for now. Does anyone have any personnel experience with the Canon EF 75-300mm f/4-5.6 IS USM. I've read a few reviews and like anything else there's good and bad reported. So I thought I'd ask for first hand experience. It's an older lens by all reports but is it a good lens for outdoor shots and wildlife?

That would be much appreciated, and if anyone else has any thoughts please let me know.
