he's been called "an authoritarian" (& by the Austrians, no less, who know a thing or 2 about them) who forbade his wife or the upstairs kids from even going into the basement. according to cnn, he'd buy food & bring it to the captives in the evening. i, too, doubt the wife knew NOTHING, but i would imagine she was rather oppressed if not abused upstairs.
just ... awful, totally beyond the pale even of jokes.

This is some fu**ed up sh*t right here. How in the hell could you have people living in the basement for 24 years and no one ever look in there? That IMO is weird.

Read this a couple of days ago, it was all over the news in this country.
Couldn't believe it at first and I'm still a bit shell shocked now.

what kind of justice system does Austria have that the most this guy faces--for confining his own daughter for 24 years, raping her countless times, similarly confining 3 incestuous children, & disposing of the body of a dead infant--is FIFTEEN years in prison???

Most people don't even want to know what their neighbors are up to. I know I don't.
24 years is a long time to not ask any questions though. Makes you wonder who did the midwife thing?

I went to a general store. They wouldn't let me buy anything specifically.

I'd quite like to have a sex slave in a dungeon, but not my own daughter!
