Deadpool (2016)
Dumb, but fun. I give the creators credit for making a movie that reflects the source material more than any other comic book movie I've seen. 7/10

Bridge of Spies (2015) - During the Cold War, an American lawyer is recruited to defend an arrested Soviet spy in court, and then help the CIA facilitate an exchange of the spy for the Soviet captured American U2 spy plane pilot, Francis Gary Powers.
Nothing more or less than what you'd expect from a collaboration between Steven Spielberg and Tom Hanks. 8/10

El abrazo de la serpiente / Embrace of the Serpent (2015) - The story of the relationship between Karamakate, an Amazonian shaman and last survivor of his people, and two scientists who work together over the course of 40 years to search the Amazon for a sacred healing plant.
It's like Heart of Darkness with a litte 2001: A Space Odyssey thrown in at the end. Fascinating film. 8/10

Room - 9/10
I can't tell if the heavy subject added or deducted a point. It was a memorable watch that moved me several times. Well acted and directed.

The Revenant (2015) - A frontiersman on a fur trading expedition in the 1820s fights for survival after being mauled by a bear and left for dead by members of his own hunting team.
The cinematography alone earns the movie a high rating from me. Epic. 9/10

Steve Jobs (2015) - Steve Jobs takes us behind the scenes of the digital revolution, to paint a portrait of the man at its epicenter. The story unfolds backstage at three iconic product launches, ending in 1998 with the unveiling of the iMac.
I liked this a lot more than I thought I would. It's a clever way to structure a biopic. And the Academy Award nominations for acting are well-deserved. 8/10

Mortdecai (2015) - 6/10
The humor was very reminiscent of Blake Edwards' Pink Panther movies, so it did keep me laughing. Plot-wise, it was okay, but nothing special.
