All of it designed to give us a better understanding of why he becomes the hero we know, how he establishes his trademark moral code and the reasoning behind the decisions to live by one in the first place beyond just being a boy scout.

He does?!
I seem to recall most of his battles being done in the area with the most casualties and propert damage. While yes, Supes might want to move the fight, it usually doesn't happen that way. I just found that line amusing because I didn't think fanboys would complain about the damage done in Man of Steel because I just take it as all buildnig need "Superman Damage Insurance."

I think what the article is saying is that Superman has improved his tactics as he has grown into the role in the new film.
If you are referring to the battles happening in the heart of the city in the comics and cartoons you are 110% correct. Like Hellboy stated they didn't get anything "wrong" unfortunately the fanboys who seemingly have only experienced these (comic book) characters via the MCU films seemingly have the loudest voices of discontent on the internet.

The fans who have experienced Superman via the "MCU" films? I want to be one of them!!! That would mean Gladiator had made it to the silver screen, and I must have missed it somehow!

It's speculated that the trailer will be attached to Jupiter Ascending next month.
