I had no idea this was a comedy. I can't believe this won best picture. I thought it was a straight up horror movie.

Maybe I'll check it out. Only if I can get my son to watch it with me.

Gladiator 9/10

Haven't watched this in years, forgot just how awesome it was. My only complaint is that Rolf Moeller's character dies.

always be my maybe - 8/10

sometimes you gotta watch a chick flick with your lady, as far as romantic comedies go it was pretty good. although the plot was obvious and pretty formulaic (as it goes with all these movies). there is a certain cameo that i think elevated it to that 8

Nightmare (1981) - fun fact, the director refused to edit this movie to remove any violence, he would not remove even one second from the film. It was released in the USA as X-rated, and was classified as a "video nasty" in the UK. The UK later went as far as to press charges, and out of the 72 video nasty's this movie was the only one where the distributor was actually prosecuted and incarcerated! Also interesting to note, Tom Savini denied his involvement with the special effects of this movie, apparently according to the director he was involved but in more of an overseeing role as opposed to actually doing the work himself, either way Tom disowned the movie, but in my opinion the special effects were one of the better aspects of the film. It did have quite a lot of gore, but I think it was ultimatley X-rated for some very graphic sexual images bordering on pornographic - 6/10

Butcher, Baker, Nightmare Maker (1981) (a.k.a Night Warning) - this was a lot better than I was expecting! pretty much about a psychotic Aunt that is a little too involved with her nephews life and controlling what he does, where he goes, who he sees etc and shes not afraid to kill to do it. They imply that she has incestuous thoughts towards him which is quite messed up, but she was damn crazy. This movie is creditted as one of the first horror movies to show homosexuals in a positive light, two of the characters are homosexual but they weren't "hollywood flamboyant homosexual" they just appeared to be normal, kind people, not sexual deviants. Overall, it had great suspense, good kills, the Aunt was just deranged and fun to watch, I enjoyed it - 8/10

A Murder of Crows (1998) 7/10 MEH

Open Grave 8/10 Liked this one quite a bit. Kind of a unique take on the plague idea so popular right now.
