Same with Sideshow's Thanos on Throne. Once ToT got released, the XM Thanos's value went into the crapper.

That happened because of the disparity of quality between those two pieces but like i said earlier in this thread there is a limit to what can be produced and i believe that we have pretty much hit the wall when it comes to the technical quality of a statue. In other words on average the statues of tomorrow won't be drastically better in QUALITY( detail, sculpt paint) than what we can produce today therefore people won't feel the need to replace them so quickly. In addition, the examples you gave may just be outliers.

The value of that particular batman statue will depend on how many of it survive and their condition not on how many batman statue exist overall. Many of the statues that exist now after initially dipping/rising in price eventually will increase in both price an rarity if the characters are still popular.

I like your optimism but you may be underestimating the power of flooding the market with too much. Remember, P1 is competing not only against their own 40 versions of Batman they have planned, but with every other scale from every statue producer out there.
Collectors are a fickle bunch too. XM does a statue that resonates with some of you? "man, forget this P1 stuff. It's too large to display anyways!". What if Sideshow comes through with a great Batman PF to redeem themselves? "Unloading my Arkham 1/3 figures. I'm going back to 1/4!!!" This is the market right now. This whole TBD edition sizes is crap in the long run.

Bought me the DKR deluxe hardcover and the Master Race harcover last night. Flipping through the pages quickly (but haven't read yet), the art was quite different than what I was expecting base on the statue.
Hope they're awesome reads!
