Regarding RI and all cons, I wish success. Cons are a great place to be, when run well. I did not attend RI this year or last. However, I know those that did and I am going off their impressions. I have attended RI in the past and found it lacking in the "comic con" aspect. I found it more of a pop culture - celeb con. I do not believe they have changed their focus. It is their show and they can do what they wish. As I said, to each his own.

You should've bashed RICC last year. It most certainly deserved it. Luckily I was able to get a refund by disputing with my credit card company. I had missed RICC's deadline for asking for a refund because I didn't follow their facebook.
I didn't go this year, but I may go again next year or the year after. I went 2013 and 2014. 2014 I didn't get to see much since it was insanely crowded and after a few minutes I decided to get lunch and after I wasn't allowed back in.
2013 was okay - but I personally enjoy Boston more. Maybe I didn't find artists I was familiar with or something but at Boston I was super excited to see the artists and writers for Chew, Lady Killer, Rocket Girl, Tim Seeley, Scott Snyder, etc. If I went this year I would've been excited for Billy Tucci.
Also one thing that really really really bothered me 2013 were the number of bootlegs. It felt almost like a flea market with the stands just selling bootleg DVDs (mostly TV seasons) and bootleg/reproduction of Mondo art prints. I hope they have cracked down. I know it can be tough spotting them sometimes (like with Anime stuff), but the DVD booths were just super obvious.
