I've had a pull list at the same comic shop for at least 25 years. It's no longer convenient for me to get to and is pricier than online but I still get around 75% of my stuff there. I had a lot of great memories there as kid and can't throw him under the bus.

I may buy the absolute editions on amazon, but other than that, my lcs gets my money. it helps I get a discount there on whatever I buy

Do you guys whose lcs gives great discounts to, need to ask for these discounts, or do they give these to all customers?
I don't really get much of a discount at my lcs, unless I'm buying trades, and even then it's only 10%. Which basically works out to paying cover price, once tax is factored in.
There is a store here in Long Beach that offers 40% off trades, which works out to 30% with tax. LB is about 30-40 minutes away depending on traffic, and I don't always have time to drive out there. So, I usually end up ordering from Amazon, no tax and free shipping, and I don't need to go out of my way.
If my lcs offered the discounts, I'd always buy from them, but they don't so...

i go where ever its the cheapest, which is why a lot of lcs closed down. They couldnt compete with online stuff due to things being way cheaper.
THese days its better not to have a overhead of a store front and just work out of your home and sell online.

Most of the independent shops around here give me a 10 - 15% discount simply because I'm a regular customer, but I've never requested it. They just started working it in once they recognized me... kind of a "thanks for choosing us" gesture.

The only time I am going in a comic shop is if I am picking up tickets to a con, bored out of my head, or looking for a statue... I have basically cut them out of my life completely...
I also don't buy from amazon... as it is not such a great deal for those that live in Washington, as they charge sales tax...
I use to get all my books through DCBS... and I will use the 33% off coupon I get from Borders for trade paperbacks..
