I've never spent as much on anything hobby-related in my life as I have on comic artwork. It's in a different stratosphere of expenditure. I spent even more this year than I did last year. I imagine I will spend even more next year now that I've been bitten by the original painting bug. If you asked me just a few year's ago if I'd ever spend X amount on original artwork, I'd say it was highly unlikely. However, Once that coveted artwork is in your hands, something happens. A startling metamorphosis occurs...

That's the problem. Once you get that first piece that you really wanted, you just convince yourself to go ahead and spend just a little more for that next piece you really wanted. And so on and so on and so on.

Would have to be the month I bought my Sideshow life sized endoskeleton . . . that was a few grand, plus what I had to spend on my wife to keep her happy

It's better to have this kind of addiction than the crack-cocaine type addiction, right? That always makes a good excuse to keep fueling our need. So next time your wife or GF hassles you for spending that extra $1000 on collectibles, you can say "Hey, if I weren't addicted to this stuff I'd be addicted to crack cocaine instead, aight! Do you want me to become a crack addict instead?!?!"

I think there's some kind of flaw in this reasoning but not sure what it is.
