How does the auction work? Silent or active bidding? Can I expect my wallet to drain quickly? Will my wife get mad?
Usually I go check out the costume contest Saturday night, but I might pass since the contestants are limited this year (30 or so) and getting more professional in nature.

i usually go to the costume contest as well but last years was unbelievably boring.
i havent actually participated in the auction but i've watched parts of it. i think what they do is give you an auction paddle after you have provided your credit card info (i can be wrong). and you bid live.
in the past there have been some good items auctioned. so far from what they've posted there isnt anything super compelling for me although there are a couple of nice items.

Yeah, even though Wizard is going downhill, I still like the all-inclusive nature of their costume contest. Buddy is bringing his 7 and 5 year old. Not sure the kids will be as into the auction as the adults. He's not going as VIP though so tougher view - unless I sneak the kids up to my seating. Guess I'll have to see how I feel that day.

agreed. the wizard chicago costume contest imo is the best one that i've ever gone to and usually is the highlight of the show. they just do a real nice job of keeping it a fun event.
c2e2 totally drained the fun out of it last year.

C2e2 charity auction -- show up and get a number. You bid live. If you win, you pay at end. Pretty straight forward. Forum member Mike Negin runss it and does an outstanding job. Proceeds all go to St Jude's

Woo! Just a few more days!
Just received email that VIP signings are David & Meredith Finch and Dan Slott.
Too bad it's not a free VIP sketch from David...
Carlos, up for grabbing a meal on Friday on-site? Anyone else from SF want to meet up?

Can't wait! It's always a fun show. I'd love to get a sig from Slott and Finch, but am not buying VIP or waiting in those lines when there's so much else to do/see. I'll be around and I think have Friday open.

im up for a friday gathering. maybe a bite after we all have set up our commissions? doors open 11 - maybe 2ish drinks at the hyatt bar?
my only variable is if jock is doing freebies and if that is the case, i'll be riding that line.
