Yeah I was thinking the other day if she had done any press for the new movie.

There are so so so many people that are so so so important to the Star Wars movies and you can feel their absence when they are removed.
Kurtz and his wife were the thorns that made him better. Even if Lucas wouldn't admit it he couldn't pass up on their great ideas and work.
Greatness takes conflict. Nothing wonderful ever came from an easy time.

I guess his opinion has changed somewhat since he first saw The Force Awakens.
I so wish he had made the effort to do the prequels and these movies his way but with enough wisdom to let go and give up some authority for others to make great decisions like he did with the first movies.

Has George commented publicly about the film itself?

IIRC, when asked what he thought of TFA, his statement was something like, "I think fans of Star Wars will like the film". There's no mistaking that choice of wording.

"They wanted to do a retro movie. I don't like that. Every movie I work very hard to make them completely different, with different planets, with different spaceships, make it new."

"I think the fans are going to love it. It’s very much the kind of movie they’ve been looking for."

“I sold them to the white slavers that takes these things, and…,” Lucas said before laughing and deciding it better not to finish.

It's an odd comment. It's kind of like he's admitting that the prequels and any new SW films he might have made wouldn't have been for the fans. Like he's saying, "I know what they want, but I'm not going to give it to them".

It shows how visionary Lucas truly is. Being a visionary more than often puts you at odds with what people want. As human beings we love routine and we dislike change. Specially, when change takes us out of our comfort zone. But as a visionary you have to take leaps of faith against all odds. You cannot allow yourself to be bugged down by someone else's fear of the unknown.

With that being said, it is important to note that visionaries can also become reclusive and overzealous concerning their own visions. They are perfectionist in nature, therefore they are hard to please and demand total allegiance to their cause. Sadly, this all or nothing attitude becomes a hindrance and an Achilles heel to their work. When that time comes, it is better for them to let go and start anew.

Lucas is saying he sold his "kids" to "white slavers" and.... stopped himself from saying more.

Well we know the rest, they prostituted them out.

It's a major studio scale fan film, made by fans, for fans. I think that is what he is saying.

Lucas would not think that that is an artistic path to take as a story teller. It's the path for The Mouse to take though. But he knew that going in. He got his billions and The Mouse will make billions more.
Lucas of course had been donating to charity in huge quantities. So I think he has other things on his mind.
