I am not keen on Mignola's art. I know a lot of people like it. The sculpt is dead on to style, I will say that. I am getting this as I agree, this line looks great displayed as a unit.

I love this line!!! I have them all and will get them all!!


I particularly like how they were displayed here--does anybody know where I can get shelving like this?

I think this one is perhaps my favorite! Matthews is an amazing sculptor.

I pulled out my Batman Black & White volume 2 HC which has the Mignola image, on both sides, on which this sculpt seems to be based. Mignola's drawing (the back cover has the full image) is just stunning. It's so dark and foreboding. The shadowing is also spectacular. He just looks so powerful and dangerous.

My biggest problem with this sculpt is that it just doesn't capture the same essence for me. Most of it would have to be painted black to do that, plus put him on that steeple in the picutre with his cape hanging down which, given the consistency in the bases I think DC Direct is going for, would never happen. But he doesn't look dark or threatening, just kind of slouching.

Anyway, I'll see it today at the lcs and be better able to judge after that.
