I can't complain about EBAY fees when my cable company bill goes up every quarter and they are behind the scenes making my internet usage slower.

That's one example.

I applaud people for sticking up for what they believe in, but just don't let it stop at Ebay.

LOL. I think everyone realizes that there are WAY more important issues going on, both personally and globally. However, I find the "don't sweat the small stuff" attitude I am hearing from some pretty funny on a website where 90% of the posts are complaining about statue delays, prices, inaccuracies, etc. The irony is delicious.

But the problem with these short term boycotts is that they don't affect the company. Every once in a while a group will get together and say "Nobody buy any gas on such and such a date" for example and so a bunch of people either fill up the day before or wait until the next day to fill up, but in either case they end up buying the exact same amount of gas as they would have anyway. In this case those (or the vast majority) sellers that won't sell this week will just put up that much more next week and sell what they were going to sell anyway, not affecting ebay in the least.

What we need is a competitive alternative. Some other auction site that draws as many customers as ebay and then the two would have to compete on price because that would be the main difference between the two sites.

Agreed.

And I'm willing to bet that eBay actually sees a rise in buying this week, because of their promotion giving buyers a $10 rebate on stuff. I'm not doing it personally (though I'm annoyed, since I was finally going to put some stuff on eBay this week, and then this happens...), but I imagine that a lot of people will.

I went to a general store. They wouldn't let me buy anything specifically.

I don't think we'll ever know...unless someone on the inside devulges that they've lost business during this time. Companies rarely, if ever, state that a boycott has worked its magic on them. Short of the company going out of business, the public rarely finds out.

They just sent me an email begging me to come back. They say they will only charge a final sales fee and that at a rate of only half what they've been charging........Oh wait.........no....They're just mooning me instead
