Classic will be worth more in the long run. Nostalgia wins every time. I can see prime1 doing a decent player 1 version but it will be a different interpretation and probably not appealing to those already steeped in their preference for PCS sculpts.

That's probably true, as long as there aren't any production issues. I'm not sure what the odds of Prime 1 doing an Alpha and/or Battle Dress are though, while it's virtually guaranteed that they'll do the Classic outfit.
I'm comforted a bit then in getting the PCS variant I like the most (Battle Dress in my case) even if it isn't the most iconic look or the one that'll be the most valuable a year after release, as we'll also eventually have the option of picking up a Prime 1 statue in the Classic outfit. There will also be something from Prototypez, though I think they go for an uber-retro, SF2-esque look to their pieces.

It depends what your collecting goals are. I'm still deciding. For me battle is the better statue, it goes well with other lines, but next to standard Ryu, Sagat, it's easily classic.

Agreed - I did the whole P1 thing with my SOTA Toys SF collection. I'm not sure I'll be picking up another 1/3 piece though, so for now I just see this as a one-off.

Battle Chun is the Superior of the three imho. But all three are beautiful so there's no losers here.

It makes sense to pick just 1. I don't see the point in owning all 3 - as like Kitana and Mileena, all 3 have the same pose.
My guess is, those that ordered all 3 will keep 1 and sell 2 
..any news on AP's ?
