Gore did invent the internet and since that time has felt tremendous guilt over how it has opened up the world because it has led to huge increases in shipping and transporting of goods across the globe. All that shipping and gas, coal, fuel use has led to global warming. So he is a champion against global warming because o fthe guilt he feels from having caused the problem.
