Plastikitty was gushing about Brown Wolverine on their site. Should I go ahead and put myself down for two? Yeeeah, I'll be getting two.

One of my favorite parts of any convention is going to Kotobukiya’s booth to see what crazy, amazing new statue they have on hand from sculptor Erick Sosa. Sadly, for Toy Fair, the newest wasn’t there in person… yet (he may show up on Tuesday or Wednesday, so stay tuned for further updates!), but from the bit of art we saw as well as pictures of the sculpt that we cannot post here, HOLY CRAP THIS IS THE WOLVERINE TO SLAY ALL WOLVERINES!

Erick decided that this would be his last Wolverine statue so he brought out all the stops for this final figure. I really hope I get to see him in person before the end of the show because, seriously, it’s just THAT good.

The quickest way to double your money is to fold it in half and put it back in your pocket.

But, the X-buckle is what's Jim Lee/X-Men #1 accurate

Yes, but Lee didn't always draw the X buckle. I just always liked the classic buckle better with the brown suit.

That is correct. The brown costume with the belt buckle was created by John Byrne, and Wolverine wore it almost entirely on the Uncanny X-Men. When Jim Lee started to draw Wolverine, he also followed the same art style.

When the X-Men comic book was launched (alongside the Uncanny X-Men) Jim Lee changed the buckle for the X symbol on the first 3 issues (the last written by Chris Claremont), and then with the fourth issue, the modern yellow and blue costume was born.

Forget the belt..look at that sculpt! Erick is the only sculptor I've seen to "get it" when it comes to tackling a Wolverine sculpt. I know some sculpts are based off artist interpretations, but Erick's sculpts always capture everything Wolverine is...aggressive, attitude, short and stocky.

Hey guys,

Were any of you surprised to see only one "new" sculpt from Erick? Last year we got 3-4 statues from Erick, whereas this year, we only have Psylocke and Juggs on the docket.

Do any of you think this points towards Erick leaving Koto, or at least, producing less for them?

I was hoping for a surprise sculpt at Toy Fair.

Thanks.
