Rumors were Seth MacFarlane was dating her (Halston Sage), maybe their relationship was heading south and she didn't want to work with him anymore (((shrug)))

I was thinking the same...definite possibility. I don't think they ever said anything publicly about why she left, but it's a little odd for a popular character to leave/get written out of a popular show in the second season like that.
...or maybe they're really going the extra mile for that TNG feel...shades of Tasha Yar.

Just watched the 5th episode tonight, I will say that I did like Halston Sage but IMO the new security officer fits the role better, she's a bit older and a bit bigger.. I always thought Halston was to young and to petite to be a security guard even though her backstory allowed her to be super strong, she still looked out of place...

Ha, other girl was so much better. It was great she was so little yet so strong. Plus she just had better chemistry with the cast. Great character, hope she returns.
This is still my favorite show on tv right now. It really does feel like TNG, JUST FUNNIER.

I'm loving every episode. I thought Nothing Left on Earth Excepting Fishes was one of the strongest of the series.

The sex themed episodes have been getting rather meh... but some of the other episodes have been pretty good..
